06 REASONS TO UPGRADE TECHNICAL INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN WITH CIVIL 3D

Civil 3D is software specializing in infrastructure design including the following parts: leveling, dredging, water supply and drainage, traffic, all modules are linked together. Therefore, this is a comprehensive solution for infrastructure design units.

Save time, limit error

In Civil 3D, all components of your project such as plans, verticals, horizontals, labels, tables, surfaces, volumes… are linked and automatically updated.

So every time one of the components changes, all you have to do is let the software automatically update all other components.

Improve quality as well as reduce project costs

With the ability to create 3D models for the project you are implementing, you can observe your project in 3D space and make necessary adjustments.

Why do you have to wait until your project is completed to discover the unreasonableness in your design project? Let Civil 3D do it for you!

Good design support tools

Infrastructure design in general as well as traffic design in particular is a gradual process of completion from the project planning step to the construction drawing design step to finally provide a harmonious technical and economic solution.

Civil 3D provides many very useful tools to help you quickly come up with design solutions.

Take advantage of AutoCAD

Civil 3D and AutoCAD software are both products of the famous software company Autodesk.

Civil 3D is built on the foundation of AutoCAD, so even if you are very familiar with AutoCAD, you will learn how to use Civil 3D very quickly.

Good customization ability

Certainly when using software to design, you will have to use your own standards and presentation templates. You won’t have to worry because Civil 3D has very good customization capabilities.

You can create your own forms as well as include your own design standards. In addition, if you know programming, you can write your own tools to help improve design automation capabilities in Civil 3D.

Supports many formats

Civil 3D supports many formats from other software such as MicroStation, Land Deskop, 3D Studio, …

6 MISTAKES WHY YOU CAN’T CONTROL REVIT

BIM 360 Document Management

1. Go back to using AutoCAD

One of the easy mistakes to make with extremely serious consequences is that while using Revit, you often use AutoCAD to “support and intervene” in the design. When starting to use Revit, people often do not exploit the detailed design of Revit compared to AutoCAD. Learn how to use Detail Components and Groups properly. Surely you will use Revit faster than AutoCAD software!

Not only the detailed implementation, many people use AutoCAD in many Views (CAD link). This will be a big barrier in design management, please try to use Revit completely (100%).

2. Only observe objects in 2D

If you do Revit and only observe objects in 2D, then you are invisibly treating Revit as the familiar AutoCAD. Working with Revit is the process of creating a model, observing the development of the model through a 3D view.

Many people who are new to using Revit spend a lot of time visualizing what is on the design screen, sometimes causing confusion in the design. Let’s create a 3D View, use the Window Tile command to divide the frame in half.

3. No subject to shortcut orders

Every software has shortcuts to use more effectively, save time and improve productivity, Revit is no exception.

You can view and download Revit shortcut commands in the following articles:

Revit MEP shortcut command: http://bim.edu.vn/thu-vien/lenh-tat-phan-mem-revit-mep/

4. Delete/move the wrong object

When you first use Revit, you may delete or move the wrong object, for example, moving the wrong column grid and elevation is not recommended. Use the Modify/Pin tool, objects will only be moved or deleted when we use Unpin again.

5. It takes time to set up the view

Oh don’t do that! Because Revit allows you to create view templates. For example, if you are setting up an initial view, use the View Templates tool to create sample views, from then on you just need to apply them to the remaining Views. Here is an example of creating a sample viewport for displaying a building facade:

Then apply them to each Views:

We can edit a sample view, which will automatically update other views:

6. Overuse of 2D objects

Sometimes, using multiple 2D objects will be effective for small projects, such as using Detailing Line or Filled Region to create Model Parts (model details). But in most cases, it will cause difficulties for users, especially when we work in groups according to BIM.

Invest the time to create 3D models and use quality Families. It may take you a lot of time at first, but it will be very effective later.
